HOW DO I KNOW WHICH AIR CON GAS MY CAR REQUIRES?

Most vehicles manufactured before 2014 use R134A gas in their air conditioning systems. For vehicles built since 1st January 2017, manufacturers now use the newer, more environmentally friendly R1234YF gas. This change was introduced to reduce global warming, as the older R134A gas is considered more harmful to the environment. Vehicles produced between 2014 and 2016 could use either type, depending on the model.

DOES MY AIR CON NEED RECHARGING?

Manufacturers recommend recharging your car or van air conditioning every two years. Because your air con isn’t checked as part of your MOT and is often not included in a standard service, it’s important to schedule recharges as part of your regular vehicle maintenance.

If your AC is blowing warm air, working intermittently, or emitting unpleasant smells from the vents, it’s a sign your system may need attention.
